For The Amazing Race China Season 3 (极速前进 第三季 / Jísù Qiánjìn), First Frame service produced the Germany episode, taking competing celebrity teams on a journey from Munich through the Bavarian Alps for the Chinese adaptation of the iconic US reality format.
Based on the 10-time Emmy Award-winning original created by Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, The Amazing Race China is produced by Shenzhen Media Group and airs on Shenzhen TV to a nationwide audience of millions. Season 3 carried a distinctive Olympic theme, visiting cities that have previously hosted the Summer Olympics, with Munich's 1972 Olympic legacy providing a natural backdrop for the Bavaria episode.
In a single intensive production day, First Frame coordinated over 200 local and Chinese crew members, 16 competing teams, 76 supporting talents, and a fleet of over 60 luxury vans across a route spanning Munich and the alpine region of Upper Bavaria. The episode's route led teams from Munich Airport and the Englischer Garten to the Alter Peter before continuing south to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where locations included the Olympic Ski Jump, the Bräustüberl Garmisch, the Biergarten am Mohrenplatz, Werdenfelser Hof, Forsthaus Unternogg, and Schloss Bullachberg as Pit Stop, with a million dollar view onto Neuschwanstein Castle.
The episode's standout challenge took place at the former Olympic Ski Jump in Garmisch, where teams experienced the sensation of a never-before-done controlled ski jump on a zip line, combining sporting action with one of Bavaria's most iconic alpine backdrops.
Coordinating a production of this scale across two languages, two cultures, and two production teams, while maintaining the relentless pace of a live race format, required exceptional pre-production planning and seamless on-the-ground execution. Executive Producer Zhang Yi led the international production alongside First Frame's team.
