Notes
For The Amazing Race Season 20, First Frame service produced the Bavaria episode, taking eight competing teams on a self-drive journey from the Austrian border through the snow-covered landscape of the Bavarian Alps.
The episode, titled "Uglier Than a Mud Rail Fence", was originally set to begin on the Zugspitze — Germany's highest peak. Hours before filming, a rare and severe storm forced the cable car operations to shut down completely. First Frame restructured the entire opening sequence within hours, relocating the start to Gasthof zum Rassen in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and keeping the production on schedule without missing a beat.
The episode also secured filming access to Schloss Neuschwanstein in Schwangau, where teams searched King Ludwig II's bedchamber for their next clue. An exceptionally rare permit that reflects First Frame's established reputation with German authorities and heritage institutions.
First Frame coordinated all local logistics across Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Oberammergau, Füssen, and Schwangau, managing permits, transport, and challenge stations across a wide alpine region for a production that, once started, cannot be paused.
Season 20 continued First Frame's long-standing partnership with World Race Productions, dating back to The Amazing Race Season 3 in 2002.
