Notes
For Swarovski's documentary Waterschool, First Frame served as the local production partner for the Austria shoot — coordinating filming in the Austrian Alps for the Danube chapter of this internationally acclaimed feature documentary.
Produced by UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in partnership with the Swarovski Foundation, and directed by Tiffanie Hsu, Waterschool follows six young women living along six of the world's major rivers — the Amazon, Mississippi, Danube, Nile, Ganges, and Yangtze — and celebrates the work of the Swarovski Waterschool program, which since 2000 has reached nearly half a million young people across 2,400 schools worldwide. Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Lucy Walker served as Distinguished Mentor on the project, with an Emmy Award-winning score by composer Alex Wurman.
First Frame coordinated the local production in Austria, managing logistics in alpine terrain for the Danube chapter of the film. The production required precise planning in topographically demanding and remote locations to capture the natural beauty of the Austrian Alpine region that has been central to Swarovski's heritage since Daniel Swarovski founded the company in Tyrol in 1895.
Waterschool premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and screened at the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Cannes Film Festival before streaming on Netflix in 193 countries and 26 languages.
