Notes
For Who Do You Think You Are? Season 6, First Frame served as the local production partner for the Josh Groban episode, filmed in Stuttgart and the surrounding Württemberg region.
Singer and songwriter Josh Groban travels to Germany to trace his mother's unknown family history back to the 17th century. His research leads him to an extraordinary ancestor: Johann Jacob Zimmermann, his eight-times great-grandfather, who served as a deacon in the church of Bietigheim, near Stuttgart, and was simultaneously a music teacher and a well-known astronomer. Zimmermann's predictions of cataclysmic doom, inspired by his astronomical observations including the comet of 1618, brought him into dangerous conflict with the church. Groban sat in the very pews where his ancestor once preached, climbed the church steeple from which Zimmermann made his celestial observations, and later visited the archives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg in Stuttgart to piece together his ancestor's remarkable story.
First Frame coordinated all local production logistics in Stuttgart and Bietigheim, including access to the church archives and filming at historically significant locations, working closely with the international production team from Forest Productions.
Who Do You Think You Are? is executive produced by Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky and airs on TLC.
