72 - A Gathering of Champions

Production
Notes

Fifty years after their victories at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, eleven of the Games' most celebrated athletes returned to the original locations where they made sports history. First Frame produced the Munich shoots together with Hock Films for the IOC documentary series 72: A Gathering of Champions.

Directed by multi-Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Hock, in co-production with HatCreek Films and Select Films, the series was commissioned by the International Olympic Committee to mark the 50th anniversary of the Munich Games. It follows Heide Rosendahl, Kipchoge Keino, Lasse Virén, Dave Wottle, Mark Spitz, Olga Korbut, Shaul Ladany, Valeriy Borzov, Ljudmila Tourischeva, Lady Mary Peters, and Karin Büttner-Janz as they return to the iconic venues of their greatest sporting moments, sharing personal memories of one of the most significant and complex Olympic Games in modern history.

First Frame granted access to the original Olympic locations and supported the authentic capture of these emotional reunions on film. Meeting these remarkable athletes and their families at the historic sites of the 1972 Games was one of the most memorable productions in First Frame's history
