The Story of the Bruised Banana

Production
Notes

To mark the launch of FC Arsenal's new away kit reimagining the iconic Bruised Banana shirt, Arsenal and adidas released Arsenal by Design: The Story of the Bruised Banana, a documentary exploring how the shirt became part of the club's identity and how that same creative spirit continues to shape kit design today. First Frame produced the on-location shoot at adidas Headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The Bruised Banana is widely regarded as one of the most iconic adidas designs of all time and one of Arsenal's greatest ever shirts. Bold, instantly recognisable, and initially divisive, it has since become a cultural landmark in football fashion, worn during a defining era for the club.

Filmed at adidas Headquarters in Herzogenaurach, the production captured interviews with Griffin Claes, Global Senior Designer at adidas, Thomas Mace, VP Design at adidas, and Takeshi Okada from adidas Global Brands, Base & Innovation. Three of the brand's most senior football design figures whose insights sit at the heart of the documentary.

First Frame delivered the complete production package, including interviews, b-roll, and access to the adidas archive, with creative precision and efficient on-location execution at one of the world's most iconic sportswear headquarters.
