Notes
For Who Do You Think You Are? Season 4, First Frame served as the local production partner for the Chelsea Handler episode, filmed in Berlin, Germany.
Born to a German mother and a Jewish-American father, comedian and media personality Chelsea Handler travels to Germany to confront a long-held family secret: the rumored Nazi past of her grandfather Karl Stoecker. Dropping her comedic persona for a deeply personal journey of discovery, she uncovers her grandmother's wartime memoirs, traces her grandfather's service as a German soldier in World War II, and pieces together the story of how he eventually came to America. The episode explores one of the most complex and emotionally charged intersections of German and Jewish family history in the series' run.
First Frame coordinated all local production logistics in Berlin, including access to archives, historical institutions, and sensitive filming locations, working closely with the international documentary production team from Shed Media US.
Who Do You Think You Are? is executive produced by Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky and airs on TLC. The series accompanies prominent personalities on emotional journeys to uncover their family roots.
